Avoiding A Fall From The Fifth Column
By Clyde Lewis

The news told me that on the 11th of December it would be the 3 month anniversary of the attacks on America. I was reminded that 4 planes crashed. Two at the world trade center in New York, One in Washington D.C. and one in Pennsylvania. I'm also reminded that in that short amount of time the Constitutional Republic of the United States has transformed into a "Semi-Constitutional" dictatorship.

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier...just as long as I'm the dictator..."
--George W. Bush Washington, DC, Dec 18, 2000, during his first trip to Washington as President-Elect

At 8:46 am on December 11th, 2001 I was sipping coffee at the Ross Island grocery with my good friend Jim. I was told the night before that this day would be a day where everyone should set aside some time to remember what happened three months prior.

I guess, I really don't have to say what happened three months prior and I think this is a point in and of itself. I believe it is insulting that we as a people of the United States have to be reminded of what happened.

It is still with us and while we try to move forward, gain what little courage we have to carry on we are told that we should remember. I haven't forgotten.

No, I haven't forgotten any of it.

However there are some people who think that President Bush forgot. His words at a town hall meeting in Florida have many people raising their eyebrows about whether or not Bush was telling a half truth when he was recalling what was happening to him during the attack on America. Once again his words may have demonstrated that he lacks the talent for thinking on his feet. While at the Orange County Townhall meeting in Florida Bush was asked a question:

QUESTION: One thing Mr. President, is that you have no idea how much you've done for this country, and another thing is that how did you feel when you heard about the terrorist attack?

BUSH: Well... (APPLAUSE)

Thank you, Jordan.

Well, Jordan , you're not going to believe what state I was in when I heard about the terrorist attack. I was in Florida. And my chief of staff, Andy Card -- actually I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works. And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, "There's one terrible pilot." And I said, "It must have been a horrible accident."

But I was whisked off there -- I didn't have much time to think about it, and I was sitting in the classroom, and Andy Card, my chief who was sitting over here walked in and said, "A second plane has hit the tower. America's under attack."

The above statements seem innocuous enough. However there seems to be a problem with Bush's statements regarding his claim that he saw the first plane hit the tower.

"And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower"

He then modifies his statement by claiming that outside in the hallway a television set was on. The first plane hit the tower at 8:46 am. The event was not carried live. So how did he see it?

Sources say that amateur footage of the first plane hitting the tower was shown a day or two later.

Now, he then modifies that "TV statement" by saying that his impression was that the pilot was "one terrible pilot." Well yes he was one terrible pilot because mandatory altitude minimums were imposed over Manhattan after a military plane hit the Empire State building.

Also, if the President had seen the first plane hit, and furthermore if he had seen coverage of the aftermath of a plane hit - then as president why didn't he address to the press what he just witnessed. I mean wouldn't the President upon seeing a plane hit or witnessing the fire coming out of the tower make a statement like:

"My fellow Americans I am here today with these wonderful Children who are the future of this great nation. Today i am about to unveil an education plan that will insure a better and brighter future. But first I would like to say that I have just witnessed a terrible tragedy. This morning I saw a plane hit the World Trade Center, and while I am here with all of these children and we have business to attend to, I want to ask that we have a moment of silence for the passengers and crew and anyone else who may have been hurt or killed in this tragedy."

But no, all he could muster was:

"There's one terrible pilot."

I do remember that President Bush had a poker face when Andy Card relayed the message that the towers were hit. Even after the towers were hit and America watched in fear President Bush read a story to school children.

Bush in his statement at the town meeting confirmed this.He knew we were under attack. But he kept on reading to school children.

So did he lie? Did he layer the two plane crashes together? Was he having creative license to a story? Even if you don't think the president fibbed. How cold blooded is it to see a plane go into a tower and say "There's one terrible pilot." Then use it as a way to ingratiate himself to others about his "flying" experience.

Even there he exaggerates. He was taken off flight status when he was in the Military because he didn't take a medical exam. One of the requirements was a blood test.

The transcripts of the press conference are both located at the CNN websites and audio can be found at the Whitehouse website.

It is sad that the President tells us to remember-I don't think I will forget being called and told that I need to wake up because the world was ending. Nor will I forget my friend Anne who didn't know what to do. I won't forget Dana when she cried on my shoulder at the market, or the tears from the nurse buying her coffee and cursing as she walked out the door.

I won't forget the words of Katy "Clyde you were right, this is it isn't it?"

I haven't forgotten any of it.

Nor have I forgotten the way we were before the event. I also haven't forgotten how people were able to speak their minds and write what they felt about government, the state of the country, paranoid conspiracy theory, and foreign policy without being labeled fifth columnists.

As we remember what happened on September 11th, 2001. As we watch the looping of the second plane hitting the tower over and over again in retrospectives at the end of the year, perhaps we could look back one or two months or even 6 months more to the beginning of 2001. There we will realize that where we have landed was obviously in the works for many years.

Once again I feel as though I have to stress that when I write and speak that I indulge in theory only to broaden narrow views that seem to exist in the black and white world of the mainstream.

It can provoke anyone and it can create animosity that in my opinion is silly. People hopefully understand that theory is not necessarily fact, but that does not mean that within the theories there are not facts involved.

Only good theories have facts, and flights of fancy are usually based in not knowing the whole story. With instant news and sound bites we take for granted that we get the whole story. However I am not even suggesting that everything you hear is subjective either. Once again I do not like to post disclaimers on everything I write because I believe they are a bit insulting. I guess being involved in an investigative process, and being cynical can get you the Conspiracy theorist label. However when pieces of the theory become reality then what does that make you?

Psychic? Clairvoyant?

How about lucky?

What I do is a blessing and a curse because I can easily fall hard on my words and I have before. My words can work if I twist them like so many Preachers and politicians have in the past. Or they can work on their own merits.

The arguments for and against the conflicts abroad and at home can mire in minutiae and semantics.

A lesson in words and their meaning can be summed up in a quote from the Lewis Carroll Story Alice in Wonderland. Alice speaks with Humpty Dumpty about his choice of words and his ability to twist them so that he can appear intelligent:

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less." "The question is," said Alice, "whether you CAN make words mean so many different things." "The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master -- that's all."

Remember the words of Humpty Dumpty because we all know his fate.

Sometimes people forget words, or they try to twist them to fit their agendas. I admit that I am guilty of this. Everyone is, and unless you are lying I don't think it's a sin if no one gets hurt. Journalists always try and find ways to use words to get a point across. Investigative journalists use words to expose those that usurp and trample the very things we are supposed to hold dear.

Which for this particular argument is our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Investigators like Michael Moore have tried to reveal those corrupt individuals who have invaded corporate America. There are others who have tried to expose the corruption of our own government. Doing so is risky business. The reporters either disappear, they quit, or they die.

Some under suspicious circumstances.

You know what they say about killing the messenger.

After the days of Woodward and Bernstein it seems that investigative reporters have dried up and only a few remain. The few that remain are merely consumer watchdog reporters out to expose bad business practices. Those who want to expose things on a much bigger scale run into all sorts of trouble.

One in particular is Danny Casolaro who planned to write a book exposing misuse of power in government. His book was about to connect the dots of what many "conspiracy theorists" claim to be a much larger beast.

Casolaro uncovered one conspiracy after another reaching out like deadly tentacles from the body of a slithering octopus. He was about to unload the secret of Promis-which of course was an acronym for "prosecutors management information system."

It seemed that the software acted like a Big brother master data base designed to list political Dissidents, subversives, tax protestors, whistleblowers, snoopy journalists, conspiracy theorists, illegal aliens, and of course bonified criminals.

The more he delved into the story he discovered that there were shadowy agencies whose soul purpose was to destroy the United States.

His research was about to blow the whistle on the dirty deeds being carried out by a shadow government, a fifth column that was in the process of taking over our constitutional government.

This shadow government allegedly was profiting from peddling oil, drugs, sex, and weapons. Many conspiracy theorists have been speculating about these shadow government operations since the assassination of president Kennedy in 1963.

Many secret societies have been named as culprits and quite frankly no one knows for sure who is behind these evils. There is no argument that these evils exist. Anymore you can't do a thing about them except point them out. Now, can you accept the weird explanation that these evils exist because they are allowed or that those who have the power to stop them look away because if they fight them they will be ridiculed or even worse killed?

Casolaro of course may have gotten too close. On August 10th,1991 Casolaro allegedly met with an unnamed CIA agent. This agent allegedly arranged a meeting with then President George Bush Sr. Justice department official Peter Videnieks. The next morning Casolaro was found dead in the bathtub of his hotel room. His wrists had been slashed a dozen times. It was ruled a suicide.

I remember when I heard the news about Casolaro. The strange part is that the mainstream news reported the case and seemed to speculate about what really happened to him. Due to a faulty memory I can only recollect that in a news magazine report that I read, it was stated that Casolaro told his brother that if anything was to happen to him and it looks like an accident don't believe a word of it.

So goes the story of another conspiracy theorist that bites the dust and circumstances show that perhaps he was wiped out for trying to expose the shadow conspiracy hell bent on a coup de' tat of constitutional republic that we hold so dear.

I guess the idea of remembering that a secret cabal could silently creep into our government is pointless now. No one wants to hear that this could have been in the works since World War II.

Everyone assumes that the Third Reich disappeared from the earth after it's leader put a bullet in his head and died with his mistress in a German bunker.

Is it possible that the demon of this philosophy escaped the chaos of a World War and slumbered? Could the ideology be like the Phoenix and rise form the ashes again?

Well of course no one would want to believe that it could. No one would honestly believe that fascism could return to the earth in his or her homeland. We chuckle and resolve that it only happens in other countries. We kid ourselves and say that Nazi attitudes only happen in Islamic countries where the leaders there have no souls.

We can change its name and the players can all be in different areas but the end result is always the same. The world remains in a constant state of conflict, ignorance, and suffering. The conditions in which ironically, humanity seems to passively love and embrace. The conditions will always exist as long as we allow them to. There appears to be no end to the vicious circle and so for my own part I guess I can confess that I am more cynical than conspiratorial.

My cynicism grows when I see friends whom I have considered liberal turn on me and run to the right. The acerbic feeling in my soul alienates me every day. My opinions and observations remind me that the winter ahead will be a cold and lonely one for me. Yes I do remember many things leading up to September 11th, 2001.

I remember a little story about Ron White. Many won't remember the story. He was a qualified black Missouri judge who was accused of being "pro-crime." He was belittled and ridiculed. The attack on the character of the judge galvanized African Americans who saw this as a racially motivated crucifixion. Who was the man who publicly attacked the character of Ron White in what was assumed a personal and racially hateful attack?

John Ashcroft, our attorney general.

It was no secret that White and Ashcroft locked horns on issues of abortion. The question is, was this a valid reason to attack White in such a public way? Many saw the crusade against White as political. Blacks were not as generous, in fact they got even at the voting booth. They arrived in record numbers and voted to kick Ashcroft out of office and elect Governor Mel Carnahan to the senate.

The biggest insult to Ashcroft was that he lost his bid for the senate to a dead man. Carnahan was killed in a plane crash three weeks before the election.

Anyone remember that little bit of irony? I remember talking with my friend Rick about how creepy that was.

Ashcroft thought that he would win and the people sent a message. The cloud of racism hangs over Ashcroft in the eyes of the blacks in Missouri and there have been many people who have hinted that Ashcroft was never friendly to minorities.

He once praised the Confederacy of the Civil war and said that it was not a perverted agenda when he was interviewed by Southern Partisan magazine in 1998.

"Your magazine also helps set the record straight. You've got a heritage of doing that, of defending southern patriots like Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and Jefferson Davis. Traditionalists must do more. I've got to do more. We've all got to stand up and speak in this respect, or else we'll be taught that these people were giving their lives, subscribing their sacred fortunes and their honor to some perverted agenda." --John Ashcroft, Southern Partisan magazine interview.

Now what are we reading here? Our Attorney General is extolling the "virtues" of an ideology that was defeated in the Civil War? Is he endorsing the "virtues" of the confederacy, which was an enemy to the United States that supported slavery, and the assassination of President Lincoln?

Does this Confederacy also espouse some of the ideologies of the Nazis? White separatists? The KKK? How are we to interpret these words?

Well these accusations were brought up during Ashcroft's confirmation hearing. But anyone who opposed was cast the evil eye as a liberal bleeding heart with an agenda to destroy what appeared to be the new administration that would bring reliability and dignity to a damaged Whitehouse. Clinton set us up for the Bush solution and Ashcroft seems to be the final solution.

Are we forgetting this little piece of information? Are we wondering why laws are being made to detain, and interrogate those who are not American citizens? Do we support the racial profiling that violates civil rights in the name of safety?

The very thought of having someone who espouses such things is a frightening thing.

Ashcroft has even endorsed a White Christian theocracy for America, which undermines religious freedom. He has supported various groups and proposals that would subject all Americans to the Christ supremacist ethic.

He also supports legislation that nullifies constitutional right to free speech, and right to protest. Under his Justice department rule you may see laws established to consecrate the American Flag, eliminate free speech on the internet, and filtering of information to the American people through the media, print, and internet. He opposes a woman's right to choose, and even proposed federal legislation and a constitutional amendment to ban common forms of Contraception, including the pill and IUDs.

Does this bother you? This is so overwhelming. The sound of protest is not even rising from the streets of America. An eerie silence seems to be over the republic. There are people who are certainly concerned but why are they being ignored? Have we just rolled over and played dead? Has America become so passive that we don't see that this will only lead to chaos?

Set aside your politics and deal with the facts. This is all un-American and we are silent.

Or maybe I am overreacting. I mean lately that is all I have been hearing from people. "Clyde calm down, there is no antichrist, or bogeyman waiting in the wings. There is no World War III or evil crusade. We are winning a war! We are fighting a cause that is just."

Yes we are fighting against terrorism, something that has been around for thousands of years. Destined to be around for thousands more.

Terrorism began when the clan of the wood serpent saw that the tribe of the cave bat had better women than they did. The wood serpent clan had fire and realized that they could use it to burn the lands that grazed the water buffalo that fed the cave bat tribe. When the men left to find food. The wood serpent clan raped and abducted the women. When the men of the cave bat returned they were met with an ambush.

Well I leave you to decide if I am overreacting. You can do your own research and find your own clues.

I know the truth is ugly and no one wants to hear that maybe we are in a very serious time and that maybe we have made a mistake. Reassure me that the words of John Ashcroft were merely words and that his endorsement of the confederacy was only a bad PR move. Reassure me that as attorney general he has repented.

Assure me that we are not going to continue to see laws proposed that put more limitations on freedoms. After reading what I have just reported, the right to liberty should not be downplayed. The positions and ideologies that sit now in the department of justice are not true American ideologies.

As we take a look at the day the world changed ask yourself if the post 9/11 proposals and changes in laws here in the United States aren't reflecting a New World Order that destroys rights and freedoms of all who seek it, from all over the world.

Here are the changes and I hope you are paying attention:
  • The Military Tribunals. Which commandeer the function of Civilian courts.

  • The United States "patriot" act. This act will be used for surveillance of certain religious organizations and profiling of certain Americans. E-mail can be read, regular mail can be read, phone lines can be tapped all without a warrant. There will also be an international database of people who are considered subversive. The very thing that Danny Casolaro tried to warn the world about in the early 1990's. This will eventually lead to the national ID card, and even worse Microchip implementation for tracking purposes.
Can we see that these policies and provisions are a part of a one-man counter-revolution? Everything the founding fathers have fought for is being destroyed by John Ashcroft. Or could it be a (dare I say it) conspiracy?

How many times have we heard from the hardcore patriotic extreme that we should shoot first, and ask questions later? How many times have we heard that law enforcement should round up those of Middle Eastern descent and question them even if they aren't criminals? How many times have you seen someone that looked like he was from the Middle East and you felt ill at ease?

You see, the fear and hatred is spreading.

It all starts with one person whose ideologies are matters of record. One man who has power over our Justice system and the laws of the land.

Maybe Ashcroft does reflect what America truly wants.

After all, polls are showing overwhelming support for the new draconian America. Maybe they support this little police state because they are secure in thinking that they will only round up foreigners.

Yea that's it.

They will only round up those. "dark, bearded suspicious looking, towel headed fiends, whose wives wear parachutes for clothes"

Well not so fast.

Salt Lake City has just declared that its airport is the safest in the United States because of an airport net that swept away some 69 workers. None of them were Middle Eastern. Most were from Central America, Mexico, and South America.

Which may not ruffle a feather but six were U.S. Citizens!

In preparation for the Olympic games and probably for a photo op and publicity Coup, law officers arrested the 69 individuals who were hired and worked for low pay. All were accused of providing false information on job applications.

According to a Salt Lake tribune article most of the 69 people charged had access to planes, runways and cargo areas, but there was no evidence to suggest that they had any ties to terrorism. This was all a part of a seven-week investigation dubbed "Operation Safe Travel."

Well that's the politically clever way of saying "witch hunt."

Utah officials are hoping that this type of investigation catches on all over the country.

Four of those removed were U.S. citizens suspected of lying about past criminal records to get a security clearance. The other 2 were arrested for falsifying information on a job application for a security clearance.

That's not all.

There were at least 202 people who had been accused of using false information to gain employment but were not charged because they did not work in secure areas. They were all fired.

The 69 people that were arrested can face a $10,000 dollar fine and 10 years in jail. People say that if you haven't got anything to hide you shouldn't fear.

Well, let's just hope you haven't lied on a job application. You may be suspected of being a subversive.

Have you ever lied to the government? Falsified a job application? Avoided paying a parking ticket? Cheated on your taxes? Lied in a census? Told a half-truth to a police officer? Lied about income for a loan?

Well get ready because if they want to target you they will.

Don't think that pointing the finger at anyone is going to keep you from being above suspicion.

In the name of the war on terror retailers and bank tellers will even be asked to report any strange money transactions. It will be the retailer's job to become an informant. This is also in the Patriot act.

All businesses have to report any transactions that may be suspicious such as withdrawals of large sums of money, or suspicious purchases. Any person engaged in trade or business must report all transactions over $10,000 to the department of the treasury.

Isn't it odd how this little provision will do nothing to curb terrorism however it stinks to high heaven with regards to the expropriation of wealth and the seizing of the keys of power? If you're rich or poor you are a suspect.

Is this Justice or are the laws for a "Just Us" mentality?

There was a quote from my online forum, which stated that we should all be grateful on the 3 month Anniversary of the attack on America. Because relatively speaking we are all "okay."

Here is the quote:

"Three months after the attack, We have defeated the Taliban, brought a new unified government to Afghanistan, and we are very close to catching Bin Laden. No WW3, no more terrorist attacks, no Anti-Christ...nothing. I think we did ok."

Sure we have liberated Afghanistan. We have defeated the Taliban. But we managed to ignore the sneak attack on our American way of life. It wasn't from the terrorists.

It was from within.

You can call it an alien invasion. Call it an Antichrist occupation, a draconian, reptilian shape shifting double cross, an illuminati plot, a satanic societal brew ha ha, but we are NOT doing okay.

We can blow the trumpet of victory for our little conquests abroad until our lips chap.

But it's not over.

That was only round one and the opponent is having a hard time hitting the mat. We seem to be having a little trouble finding Bin laden so that we can execute him and get it over with.

It's hard to find a body to execute so we will kill everybody while looking for him.

Another Alice in Wonderland quote seems to apply here:

"The executioner's argument was, that you couldn't cut off a head unless there was a body to cut it off from; that he had never had to do such a thing before, and he wasn't going to begin at HIS time of life.

The King's argument was, that anything that had a head could be beheaded, and that you weren't to talk nonsense.

The Queen's argument was that, if something wasn't done about it in no time, she'd have everybody executed, all around. (It was this last remark that had made the whole party look so grave and anxious)."

Are we really okay? Do we have that grave look? Do we feel anxious and full of fear? Are we taking that fear out on those undesirables that we are told are our enemies? Soon your neighbors and friends will be suspects. Especially when Ashcroft is now proposing spying on religious groups.

Are we ready for the perpetual witch-hunts while killing everyone that stands in our way? Then when we find the witch will we go after more witches? This is out of control. The power elite has convinced the majority that the demons are hiding everywhere and something should be done, that is if you believe the polls.

Are we really ready to spend a generation caught up in the throes of war so a small list of Washington's who's who can benefit?

The guys in D.C. just love to sell us on the idea of the struggle, the courage of the veterans and the soulless Islamic fascists. They remind us to be fearful and to understand that these changes are for our own good and our safety. We must always be alert, but without any means to save ourselves.

We are told that we must be on the look out for dark skinned people who may have a letter with powdered anthrax, or a box cutter. We must tell on people who spend a lot of money on various items so that there can be a record given to someone who may want to up the price or get inside information on your business dealings.

We let them have the power all in the name of the war on terrorism.

Now that they have this power do you honestly believe that they will surrender it to YOU?"

The wall is being built yet again! The bricks and the mortar are all forged in loathing and fear. Democracy and the Constitution will be placed on the wall along with the king of semantics "Humpty Dumpty."

The metaphor of Humpty Dumpty will try and manipulate the words and say them in whatever fashion to try and deter any blame or any accusation that the foundation of American freedom has been demolished for the New and terrifying order.

Then Humpty Dumpty will remain on the wall, he will be there in power until his great fall. Then all of the strong armies and all of the great men will wonder if poor Humpty should be pieced together again.

The circle will continue and the forces of darkness continue to become more clever and cunning to the intellect.

I do remember what it was like before the 9/11 attacks.

I wasn't afraid to speak out loud about my doubts and about what troubles me. It wasn't anti American to criticize my government. I didn't feel alone then.

I always wonder if it was un-American to point out the flaws of Clinton? To curse the memories of Nixon? To chide the lapsing memory of Ronald Reagan?

Was it un-American to speculate on the sexual preferences of Hillary Clinton? How about her accused affair with Vince Foster? The Horrible rumors about Chelsea and who her true father is? Was it un-American to point out that Clinton bombed an aspirin factory in the Sudan so that we could take our minds off of semen spackled blue dresses and new uses for cigars?

I can already hear the anger that will generate from what I have just written. I will be the idiot, the fifth columnist, the muckraker, and the bleeding heart.

I know.

Videotape has been released to the American people on television. It is said to contain the confession of Osama Bin Laden and how he is the mastermind of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Why is it being shown? Don't we all know that he was the mastermind? I'll bet I could ask anyone on the street and they would tell me who was responsible for the attacks. So why must we be subjected to seeing a tape that confirms what we allegedly already know?

Are there doubters that have not shown up on opinion polls? Is someone doctoring up the support? The tape is in another language and this is proof? The quality is dark, fuzzy and poor. How can you tell that it's really him?

Tweedledee and Tweedledum?
Will the real OBL please give up?

Haven't we been told that he has many lookalikes? No wonder it took so long to be released, The alleged Bin laden face had to be darkened in postproduction.

I'm sorry to rain on the parade but the video has those little flaws.

Flaws that skeptics have used to disprove any photos, or video, of UFO's, Bigfoot, or the L:och Ness monster. Flaws that disproved the Alien Autopsy. Flaws that eventually disproved the credibility of the infamous Lee Harvey Oswald backyard photo showing him with two guns and a Communist newspaper, which at the time convinced everyone of his guilt.

I guess there is no better wanted poster than one that speaks and moves in a disjointed 60-minute video. It's unbearable to watch and not because of the subject matter. It's like watching three frat boys with towels on their heads sitting in a sauna.

The audio quality on the Osama Bin Laden confession is bad. Some of the words are indecipherable. We were told in the beginning of the war that any broadcast of Bin Laden on American TV would be banned because his messages may send code words to would be terrorists. This is his confession. No tugging of the beard to signify Jihad, no blinking of the eyes in Morse code that says attack. You wouldn't be able to see those secret signals anyway.

It seems this tape is okay. It will serve its purpose and it will convince the non believer. Well at the risk of sounding predictable I'm not convinced that it is truly Osama Bin Laden.

Why?

Well why don't you ask Humpty Dumpty?
