Operation Overwarn

by Clyde Lewis

"At a time of universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act."–George Orwell

You have been warned and overwarned: we are a country that is in danger. We are being threatened by credible threats of terror.

Tom Ridge upped the color of the terror alert at the beginning of August based on so-called "credible" information that al Qaida is planning to attack the Washington based international financial institutions including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the New York Stock Exchange.

"Another terrorist attack on American soil in 04" has been the campaign of the Bush administration and it has been said that the next one will be far more terrifying than the one that occurred on 9/11.

This attack would ultimately lead to the downfall of democracy in America. This is according to former CENTCOM Commander, General Tommy Franks. Franks was candid about the implementation of a police state after another mass attack by terrorists, and the power elite is well aware of what is ahead if an attack is carried out by any domestic enemy of the state.

"We are on the verge of global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order."--David Rockefeller

It is obvious to me that the police state will take hold, and it seems that, after the revelations from Tom Ridge, we may not even need a terrorist attack to implement it. All we need is an alert system that acts as a Pavlovian tool, because most Americans are having a hard time shaking their overreaction to terrorism and the lingering trauma associated with the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

It's no matter whether or not the impending attacks are based on credible evidence. It was revealed that the Orange Code "high risk" alerts that were issued on February 7, 2003, and December 21, 2003 were based on fabricated intelligence.

In their mental haze of fear and paranoia, the American public has paid little attention to what is being done inside the United States in the name of anti-terrorism. One of the most deceitful actions being carried out by our leaders is something called "mission creep". The simple definition of mission creep is the process by which a mission's methods and goals change gradually over time.

There are two purposes for issuing fake threats. One is to desensitize the people to the jackbooted police forces that team with the military to show that they are on the ready to restore order. The other is to reinforce negative public opinion of the Department of Homeland Security and its intelligence failures, paving the way for abolishing it in favor of a "centralized" security agency, as drawn up by the nonpartisan 9/11 commission.

Once again, the Bush administration changes its mind on how to curtail terror threats at home. First it was the Total Awareness Network, then it was Homeland Security, and now a new terror threat demonstrates the urgency to act on the recommendations of the 9/11 commission and create yet another leviathan police force.

This should not surprise anyone when you consider that the mission creep began after the methods and goals of eradicating terror had changed gradually over time.

You may remember that President Bush first declared war on Afghanistan because "intelligence" dictated that he should do so in retaliation for the attacks on the United States. Then in an act of mission creep the plan changed. Bush framed Iraq and accused its leader Saddam Hussein of being responsible for 9/11 and was targeted in the the "war on terror."

There were other reasons cited for the attacks. There was the threat of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the lie that Iraq had nuclear capabilities.

He ordered a preemptive strike on Iraq, even though he was not able to produce evidence of a link between Iraq and 9/11. There was no evidence of a relationship between Saddam Hussein's secular Baath regime and the fundamentalism of al-Qaida.

Neither was there evidence of a terrorist presence in Iraq greater than in any other Arab or Muslim countries. The war machine is moving forward and many people are speculating about which countries are in the crosshairs of our new aggressive empire.

How many times must the plans change before we realize that we have been gradually drawn into an Open Conspiracy whose mission creep is turning into a creepy mission?

When the book 1984 was released in the first half of the 20th century, it was chilling fiction that was designed to bring about awareness regarding the encroachment of of the state upon the freedoms of the individual.

The act of whittling away such rights was accelerated with the use of propaganda that convinced the people that there was a threat to internal security, and that, in order to eliminate the threat, there would have to be a feared police state to enforce a mission creep.

While most writers were citing Orwell as a source for comparison, I decided to hit the books and research definitions of democracy and dictatorship. In all of the definitions that I was finding, the words "police state" were always used as a way to describe the type of authoritarian regime that uses fear and intimidation to keep people hostage.

Every day, I awake at about 9:00 a.m., and, no matter how poor I may get, no matter how tired or hung over I may be in the morning, I manage to scrape up enough change to get a cup of hot coffee at the market that is up the street from my house.

Ever since I have lived in Portland, the Ross Island Grocery has been a place where I can sit and chat about the world. There are so many people from different walks of life that hang out there.

There is the international businessman named Steve, the stockbroker named Chris, and the young news reporter who decided to quit his job in favor of working a landscaping job. There are doctors, musicians, and a few panhandlers, who are always quick with an opinion about the problems in the world.

There are also artists, writers, and poets who all gather in this community deli and market, at the place that used to be considered the Haight-Ashbury of Portland.

One morning, out of nowhere, there appeared a bookcase, and in the bookcase were many books left behind by a man who was the editor of a local independent newspaper.

There were at least two other editors of local papers in the neighborhood, and each one tried to move the other person's papers to a lower shelf in hopes that their own news would be the first to land in the hands of the people waiting for their breakfast sandwiches. The contribution of books to the choice of reading material was a real asset to the morning ritual.

Some the books were for sale.

I looked over most of them, and the titles were unfamiliar and really didn’t pique my interest at all.

But I dug into the shelves and blew the dust off some of the books that had probably sat in an attic somewhere for some time.

One book that I stumbled upon was a large volume of stories and quotes by H.G. Wells.

I opened the book, and inside it was a bookmark that was a miniaturized poster of an "Amazing Stories" cover. The place marked was in a chapter called "The Open Conspiracy."

"The Open Conspiracy", a book in itself, was Wells's blueprint for what a future world would use to dominate the people though a series of revolutions.

I read with great interest the thoughts of one of my favorite science fiction writers, and realized that a lot of what he had written in 1928 could apply to the state of the world today.

His vision in the 20’s seemed like a snapshot, capturing what we see today through our windows on the world, all of the media sources that vary from CNN to USA Today. He spoke of an Open Conspiracy that would begin and spread throughout the world.

Wells promoted the idea of world domination and how it could be achieved. The book was not only a guide for his version of socialism, but a reminder of how Wells was a man who knew too much, how his "fiction" has become more like nonfiction and arguably more of a blueprint for a New World Order than even Orwell's 1984.

Wells saw a time where there would be an illusion of democracy, of political choice, given to the unwashed masses; the people in power and in influential positions would see the benefit of a one world order, and therefore, in an act of Open Conspiracy, would not hide their desire for the unification of Communists, socialists, liberals, and other progressives. The purpose of the unification would be to swallow up smaller groups and assimilate them into the order.

Although Wells never mentioned it, I could easily see the Open Conspiracy taking hold where even the most self- styled conservatives realize that the New World Order is far more attractive than the old way of having differences that make us all unique.

If the Open Conspiracy had a one particular thing they could agree upon, then its power and influence would spread about the land like a cancer or a disease.

Soon all those that refused to be a part of the Open Conspiracy would be driven away from the fold and eventually would have to fend for themselves without the blessing of the new order.

Wells's vision seems to be that the New World Order would be achieved through many years of education, and, eventually, unity of purpose towards a single goal. The eventual elimination of any threat to this New World Order might become such a goal. Those who would seek to prevent it, or even question it, would be labeled traitors, subversives, and even terrorists.

As each enemy was eliminated, those who joined in that crusade would feel vindicated, and would eagerly await the assimilation of the next aggressor into the Open Conspiracy.

Why would a society that has a functioning democracy hand over their basic rights and freedoms to a New World Order, when they have been told their whole lives that this type of totalitarian rule is a dystopic foray into a doomed world?

T.S. Eliot said it best:

"Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm – but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves." –T.S. Elliot

We Americans have been encouraged to think well of ourselves and our way of life. We are told that the way we live in this country is superior to other countries, even though this ideal life is quickly fading into history; even though other countries, which live differently, seem to have lasted a lot longer than we have.

The great British writer, G.K. Chesterton, observed that things can get so overwhelming that man can be blind to the consequences of participating in something so enormous that he can’t fully understand it:

"Men can always be blind to a thing, so long as it is big enough."–G.K. Chesterton

With this in mind, we can assert that most people in the United States are becoming desensitized to concepts as vast as this New World Order, and, in the process, to the ever-present encroachment on human dignity and rights. They do not question barbed wire placed on the perimeter of a political convention, nor the presence of military patrols in the area. Though the picture is not typical of America in the 20th century; it seems that in the 21st century the American citizen is blind to it all. As Wells predicted:

"The Open Conspiracy will appear first, I believe, as a conscious organization of intelligent and quite possibly in some cases, wealthy men, as a movement having distinct social and political aims.

Confessedly ignoring most of the existing apparatus of political control, or using it only as an incidental implement in the stages, a mere movement of a number of people in a certain direction who will presently discover with a sort of surprise the common object toward which they are all moving.

In all sorts of ways they will be influencing and controlling the apparatus of the ostensible government."

He went on to say that the New World Order he envisions will be like a centralized intelligence. It will be a world that demands that thoughts be accounted for, and insists that all thoughts that are contrary to the progression of the new order must either be eliminated, or changed to fit the new groupthink.

In order for the Open Conspiracy to take hold, it would have to begin as a secret society; eventually, that secret society would be accepted and not routed out of the old system.

These societies would then invite the influential to join in their ranks, and, after indoctrinating them with a common agenda, would turn them loose upon the world, requiring them, through blood oaths and covenants, to use their businesses as a tool to bring about the Open Conspiracy.

These influential initiates would not only be leaders in business, but also in the process of the education of our youth. They would be required by those oaths and covenants to teach the set agenda provided by the elders of the New World Order, which would be designed to assimilate a population into a new and somewhat invincible order.

They would then move into communications centers, media outlets, newspapers, banks, entertainment companies, and food and drug distributors, regulating their expansion and, once again, eventually terminating any exchange with anyone who decides to attempt to destroy the new order.

This would continue until every major institution, every piece of literature, every news outlet, every food source, every religion, every aspect of our lives was controlled by a few people in positions of power, all seeking the same result.

"It will be very loosely organized in its earlier stages, a mere movement of a number of people in a certain direction, who will presently discover with a sort of surprise the common object toward which they are all moving."-- H.G. Wells

It will not matter, in the end, who is in the White House; it will not matter whom you vote for right now. The Open Conspiracy has already taken hold. The only way to see it disappear is to expose those who are openly and willingly mocking our constitutional rights.

It is time to stop ignoring the Open Conspiracy. Do not allow yourself to be swayed by the dogma of the party that seeks to place at the helm of our country some groomed operative who believes in continuing the processes of a leviathan police state. You need to understand that both the incumbent candidate and his challenger are both cut from the same cloth, and that either will clearly unleash a mission creep on the American people, very soon transforming the New World Order from a mere theory to a bloody and violent reality.

When it comes to politics in the United States, there are a group of citizens who believe that there has to be one man, one hero, one savior who will rescue them from their past mistakes.

In the past four years, it has become apparent that the current condition of our lives, the destruction of our constitutional rights and administrative government, are a product of something far darker than just an idiot chief executive and his cowboy attitude.

This has been a gradual process. Every year, we are told that our votes will change the way things are going. We have not seen any evidence of this statement being true. The country seems to be spiraling closer and closer to its own death. The United States has developed an attitude of "suicidal adolescence", and continues to feel invincible to a takeover from any nefarious force hell-bent on rendering its people into slaves.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." –Albert Einstein

The United States seems to think that doing what we've always done is a strategy for success. When will we confess that times have changed, and that our strategies need to change as well if we are to combat the ever- present threat of fascism coming from the very people we have held in high regard in the public trust?

We think that doing what makes us look good in front of our peers is always what is good for us. Now we may have to suffer a bit in order to get back the control of our well-being.

I don't question the sincerity of people that believe that Kerry is their man or that Bush is their man. They have made their decisions based on the information that is being given to them through channels which are themselves part of the Open Conspiracy.

What I do question is the ability of the brainwashed American citizen to understand what is happening and how the Open Conspiracy has now become the "norm."

The methods used to smooth over the flaws and hypocrisy of both political parties and their actions are divisive and sickening. It troubles me that the strategic sense of eliminating our problems in this country is to have the naive idea that all of this madness can be solved with an election.

I get the feeling that this is the attitude of those who want any body's butt in the seat of the Oval Office.

As a nation, we need to stop and ask ourselves, how it is that an election that only elects men from elite groups can produce a President who holds in his esteem the well being of all Americans when both sides continue to encourage the expansion of the Military Industrial Complex?

How can we, as a nation, become irresponsible and allow for the attitude of "anything is better in the White House than what we have now," when both sides encourage an immense military police force and a "homeland security' organization which will probably be the equivalent of the Stazi Police?

To those who encourage irresponsibility with an Open Conspiracy in the ranks, I say, "Wake the hell up!" Realize that history reveals that no incumbent president has lost an election during wartime.

If history fails me, then I can understand how times have changed. But as I see it now, though the man in the Oval Office may have a different face, he will continue to push the issue of global war and the Open Conspiracy!

"Let there be no mistake: I will never hesitate to use force when it is required. Any attack will be met with a swift and a certain response. I will never give any nation or any institution a veto over our national security. And I will build a stronger military. We will add 40,000 active duty troops, not in Iraq, but to strengthen American forces that are now over stretched, overextended and under pressure.

We will double our Special Forces to conduct terrorist operations, anti-terrorist operations, and we will provide our troops with the newest weapons and technology to save their lives and win the battle. And we will end the backdoor draft of the National Guard and reservists."–John Kerry Transcript of speech from the Democratic national convention

The words of John Kerry damn him to the very core and expose him as another operative in the ongoing mission creep to destroy the morale and example of the United States as a place of relative safety, happiness and freedom.

Kerry also believes in increasing the police forces, and supports the decision 9/11 Commission's decision to create a centralized intelligence operation. I believe that this will create even more problems for our country. It will be a jackboot in the door for the police state that has already shown itself after the alleged terror threats that were issued by Tom Ridge regarding attacks on our financial institutions.

"Much of the information that led the authorities to raise the terror alert at several large financial institutions in the New York City and Washington areas was three or four years old, intelligence and law enforcement officials said on Monday. They reported that they had not yet found concrete evidence that a terrorist plot or preparatory surveillance operations were still under way. –New York Times August 3rd, 2004

Even though the terror threat information was dated, it still did not stop the infiltration of armored police, concrete barricades, and barbed wire and spot searches from taking place in New York City.

We as Americans should be outraged.

The specter of the Stazi police has shown itself openly at the Boston Democratic Convention. It seems that the downplaying of the barbed wired "free speech" zones was an impressive act of gerrymandering by the media to continue the war party's reign of terror with a bombardment of dire messages to a fearful and desperate nation.

All sides in the political arena seem to endorse this type of abuse of power. There has been no official decrying of the police state, nor of the apparent overturning of posse comitatus in the war on terror, because it is endorsed by the Open Conspiracy that has its grip on our administrative government.

As I have always said, "Silence is Acceptance."

I encourage you to vote. Go out and try it. It gives you the fuzzy feeling about being part of a glorious democracy. No matter how you vote, the war and the growing support of the police state will continue no matter who occupies the role of the Open Conspiracy’s hand puppet.

I cannot see how we as a nation can allow ourselves to participate in this farce without somehow declaring that it is a very clever ploy to rob people of their dignity and freedom. The whole color coded over warning and the urging to participate in a voting scam is similar to the Kool-Aid drills at Jonestown.

To those who ridicule me for saying that this is a farce, I say go ahead and participate in this charade; you will get what you deserve.

If you feel that you deserve better, then you need to ask openly: whose dirty hands are manipulating these so-called men of integrity?

When you sit and contemplate your future loss of social security benefits, or your right to an abortion, ask yourself: is some selfish issue worth wasting your vote for?

Are they, especially when these issues are rolled out almost on command during every election? Haven’t you noticed that the same old issues are talked about during every election and no one stops to think that these so-called issues are just triggers to get you to get out and promote the voting for the Open Conspiracy?

It’s all about "Problem, Action, Solution", and many people are falling for it because they are so easily duped into thinking that they have no control of their lives.

The current power structure is using this method to seduce the ignorant into participating in the furthering of their Open Conspiracy.

That is why they are prone to overwarning the populace: they know that a fearful populace will demand action against, or a solution for, the perceived threat. Notice how this can be done even when the alleged terror threat refers to something long past?

We no longer need a visible threat to get the police state rolling; we only need the words of those who have already sworn to tearing down our constitution to make way for the New World Order!

"Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to Restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful. This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by their world government."–Henry Kissinger at Evian, France, May 21, 1992

Even Henry Kissinger, a war criminal knows that the best way to direct whole populations is to be the creator of both the problem and the so-called "solution" to the problem.

History has shown us that fascist orders and criminal power structures in governments routinely create "terror" events, in order to terrify those who they want to enslave. In order to ensure the favor of the people as heroes, they come up with a solution to the problem -- usually an aggressive one -- and then they send in their armies and their paid enforcers to enact it.

They create their own dragons, they build their own beasts, and then they find an organized way to allow the evil to grow; but while they are controlling it, they can also kill it if they really want to.

The alleged terror threat that was levied against our financial institutions at the beginning of August was an opportunity to demonstrate the urgency for a decision on the recommendations of the 9/11 commission. It was conveniently issued at a time when our leaders are about to infuse into a so-called free nation a centralized police force far greater than the proposed "Total Awareness Networks".

Politicians are getting smarter, realizing that the use of law enforcement to curb public dissent is very effective. They use the police as their political thugs, as tools to obstruct the real pursuit of justice. Political police tend to have a mentality of us-against-them; this is not the way for public servants to act. Instead, it exposes the real nature of these police as mercenaries, hired to wage war against the inclinations of the citizens to live freely and seek their own security.

I find it hard to believe that it has been this easy to accept this growing police state. I was always told that there would be some sort of ethical response to this type of tyranny.

I can only determine that the reason why it hasn’t been fought against is that it hasn’t received a proper marketing name that can be put on a television screen with computer graphics and whistles and bells.

Should it be called "Operation Overwarn?" How about "Operation Mission Creep?"

If we could only define it for those who need a prepackaged problem; then we could expose and eliminate the passive attitudes of people regarding the domestic enemy that now openly tramples upon our constitution.

If we could define this criminal operation as such, perhaps Americans would not allow themselves to be beguiled by the vipers that are responsible for destroying our way of life.

These Open Conspirators have a great way of making Americans feel good about surrendering their freedoms, which encompass all individual rights, for an empty promise of security from the state.

A state that is openly conspiring against the very rights they claim they are trying to protect.
