I had this nightmare. In it people were lined up at the airport. They were being searched and the police were wearing black uniforms with red armbands. Their costumes looked a bit familiar to me. I then looked ahead at the gate and hanging above near the gate number was a red flag with a white circle. In the middle of the circle was a Swastika. That was not the nightmare. The nightmare was that no one cared. They were so emotionally drained that they were willing to accept anything that would deliver them from the pain and the fear. I'm hoping that it will stay a nightmare and not manifest into our reality.

Usually there is a whole cadre of things that set me to writing. It could be some kind of news story or perhaps a thought that escapes from some brilliant mind that needs to be explored.
As the summer draws to a close I have to say that it was a beautiful one in my neck of the woods. Portland was more sunny than rainy this year and finally as I write this the gray clouds gather and remind me that the year is about to expire.

I know there are four more months left in the year of 2002 but there have some things in my life that have drawn to a close. Old relationships have seen their day arrive and new ones are being kindled. The country's milestone heralded in some empty media created ritualistic observance and everyone is kidding themselves by saying that we are stronger now than ever before.

I am getting the feeling that the media has developed this never-ending loop of tragedy that it continues to sell you. We seem to dwell on various tragedies, when previously, we were able to pick ourselves up and move forward with our lives. We have seen natural disasters and horrible events that are just as shocking and tragic as the 9/11 terrorist attack.

While we rightfully memorialized the dead on September 11th. I think that someone has to call a spade a spade and say that the constant bombardment of 9/11 media memorials that we had to endure shows how weak we are as a nation.

This country has an unhealthy fixation on the 9/11 attacks and possible future attacks and I feel that a mass hysteria has developed and there seems to be an addiction to hearing about how horrible things are. I believe that the constant bombardment of 9/11 imagery and talk is actually a sign that we are a weak country in need of mental help and healing. There are some that are even asking that the date become a national holiday.

In fact there seems to be this "Patriot Day" Idea creeping into the lexicon.

We need to stop this now.

If it is an unpopular opinion then so be it -- but understand this needs to end now.

The 9/11 attack on the United States is not a patriotic event and it should be remembered for what it truly was.

An act of aggression and an act of terror.

The media keeps feeding us reports to keep us in this mire of uncertainty and fear. I have called the condition Psychochondria. It is another one of those made up words and phrases that someone will rip off and use as the name for a website.

Psychochondria is the condition where you are wondering how to strike a balance between vigilance and paranoia.

While in this state of mind you are more susceptible to whatever the puppet masters want you to believe.

Mental health specialists warned that in the aftermath of 9/11 fatigue we would witness the lashing out between those who want to tell their otherwise "patriotic" counter parts to get over themselves and start living again and those who are rekindling their hate against Muslims.

Most mental health experts are saying that no one is saying the truth about 9/11. The truth is that there is NO resolution. No war, retaliation, or flag waving is going to remedy the scar.

Washington raised the country's terror alert status to Code Orange -- it's second-highest level. Afterwards Nine U.S. embassies were closed, amid threats of possible terror attacks against U.S. interests overseas.

As soon as the 9/11 memorials were about to start their macabre replay there was word that envelopes with white powder had arrived in U.S. Embassies and consulates in Germany, Denmark, Italy and Luxembourg.

It was almost a repeat performance. A weird coincidence? A serendipitous "told you so?" or perhaps an orchestrated news story to keep the herd off balance?

I also noticed that for the first time CNN actually had the Orange Alert status on their newscasts during the crawl. They never bothered to put it up on the screen during yellow days. It was a constant reminder that we must be afraid of the terrorists and we must continue to listen or watch the news for further reports.

It seems that we were sitting ducks.

What were we supposed to do?

That's right, we must remain vigilant and paranoid. We must worry about a threat that is not immediately there but may attack in a day, a year or ten years. There is no threat now, perhaps later. However we want to think the threat is here now when it isn't.

This is where we worry about an unseen or unfounded threat or Psychochondria.

On September the 12th, 2002 President Bush spoke at the United Nations General Assembly and tried to make his case about attacking Iraq and toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein. Bush strained to find a good case to attack Iraq.

Of course the well-worn out excuse that Hussein could have weapons of mass destruction was used. Now I get this feeling that most Americans are of the opinion that Hussein is developing intercontinental ballistic missiles. We have been hearing the over played sound bite "weapons of mass destruction" and we never hear about who they may be aimed at.

Well my friends, even if they existed, they aren't aimed at Chicago or New York or Los Angeles.

However the warmonger tune is being used once again to induce Psychochondria on the masses. Many Americans are under the impression that Iraq has the power to fire a missile at the United States. Chances are if anyone has to panic it is Israel and even then the threat still seems to be nebulous.

Another thing that Bush is banking on is your ignorance. If Hussein attacked Israel the retaliation for such an event would be widespread. Is Hussein that stupid?

Bush is hoping that you would think so.

Israel has the bomb and as far as we know Hussein doesn't.

We have been attacking Iraq off and on now for at least 11 years and the latest attack was reported without fanfare in the international press. I reported on September 7th, 2002 that several European sources were reporting that 100 American and British aircraft attacked Iraq's major western air defense installation on September 5th, 2002.

The attack was reported to be a prelude to the large-scale attack that has been rumored to be launched sometime in the winter. The raid destroyed air defenses and now will allow easy access for special forces helicopters to fly into Iraq through Jordan or Saudi Arabia to target scud missile systems. At the time the story was released worldwide there was no coverage of the event in American Press.

Psychochondria also breeds selective memory, selective prejudice, selective belief, and in the media's case selective reporting.

It doesn't seem politically correct to call George W. Bush a warmonger, but we must understand that Bush is the only loud mouth spouting the war mantra.

Has anyone heard Osama Bin Laden speaking words of war from a pulpit somewhere?

Not Lately.

Hussein has only responded to Bush's accusations. He hasn't said death to America yet.

But George W. Bush surely wants us to hear just how badly he wants war. George W. Bush is always sounding like the bully on the playground picking fights. Some think that this shows that he is a leader. Well from where I sit it makes him sound like a tyrannical king who wants to increase the size of his empire.

He is the only leader that uses fuzzy logic and demands that we as a people do the same. He speaks about outlaw groups and regimes that accept no law of morality and have no limit to their violent ambitions in his speeches as if the United States is immune to such "immoral" practices. At the moment he is sounding more warlike and evil than Saddam Hussein or even Osama Bin Laden who is suspiciously quite nowadays.

If we can see beyond our collective Psychochondria perhaps we can understand that George W. Bush seems to want to conduct a campaign of conquest.

He uses all kinds of propaganda to instill a condition of Psychochondria just like his father before him. George Senior just loved to play with words and give credence to fabricated stories developed by public relations groups.

I remember the story from the previous Gulf war where a little Kuwaiti girl fabricated the story about Iraqi soldiers walking into hospitals and taking babies out of their incubators and throwing them on the cold floor.

It turned out that in classic "wag the dog" fashion a public relations firm Hill & Knowlton were hired by the Kuwaiti government to generate support for U.S. entry into the Gulf War against Iraq. One of their most successful deceptions was the incubator story.

A 15-year old Kuwaiti girl named Nayirah gave the concocted statement and shocked a public hearing of the Congress' Human Rights Caucus on October 10, 1990. The media sucked up the story without checking the facts and later it was widely reported in the media, and helped demonize Iraqis in American public opinion.

Nayirah turned out to be none other than the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador, and Kuwaiti hospital officials interviewed after the Gulf War had ended said no infants had been dumped from incubators.

The 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy." --Alex Carey, quoted in "The Public Relations Industry's Secret War on Activists"

Bush looks right into the eye of the American people and tells out right lies.

He states that these so called evil regimes have their hands on weapons of mass destruction and yet the weapons they chose to attack us with were nothing more than box cutters, their own will, and our own commuter aircraft. If they had access to weapons of mass destruction then why oh why did they not use them on us?

I do not believe that you will hear any reporter ask that question for fear of being fired for being too flippant to our "respected" leaders. After all according to our so-called honest president these people hate our freedom and are dead set on attacking it.

This is also a ridiculous statement.

However I have heard this statement quoted by people who suffer from Psychochondria.

Once again, this mental illness is being spread by one carrier to others who pass it on to unsuspecting people.

That carrier obviously sits in the Oval Office.

It is his fear and paranoia that somehow has thrown his goals out of focus he is asking for simultaneous battles. One battle still hasn't produced the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

Osama Bin Laden is still unaccounted for and Bush still has some unfinished business to tend to. Yet we now are finding a way to link Saddam Hussein with Al Qaeda. In fact Bush and the Hawks tried shifting bogeymen in midstream and in the process made utter fools out of themselves.

Which only confirms my theory that we are dealing with unstable minds and a President with a borderline personality. Our leaders are shooting bullets in the dark and using the American people in the process, spending billions of dollars on a war that has no direction and absolutely no reason for being waged.

Not a single crumb of evidence connecting the Al Qaeda to Hussein has been uncovered. In fact it was reported that Mohammed Atta was to have met with an Iraqi agent in Prague however Atta was in the United States at the time of the alleged meeting.

Big oops.

The media then jumped on to the report that Al Qaeda terrorists were taking refuge in Iraq. This was a bit promising but the final outcome was embarrassing.

Of course the media had a red face when it was discovered that the group took refuge in an area of northern Iraq that is under the control of the Kurds who last time I checked are our allies.

So who did what to whom and what are we doing?

To give more of an indication as to how our leaders are grasping at straws and firing at anything a CBS report leaked out that Donald Rumsfeld had already determined that the terrorists were linked to Saddam Hussein even before there was proof or an investigation linking him to the attacks.

CBS reporter David Martin submitted a copyright story about notes that were taken by aides who were with Rumsfeld in the National Military Command Center on Sept. 11the. These notes show exactly where the road toward war with Iraq began.

According to Martin's report:

"At 9:53 a.m., just 15 minutes after the hijacked plane had hit the Pentagon, and while Rumsfeld was still outside helping with the injured, the National Security Agency, which monitors communications worldwide, intercepted a phone call from one of Osama bin Laden's operatives in Afghanistan to a phone number in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia.

The caller said he had "heard good news" and that another target was still to come; an indication he knew another airliner, the one that eventually crashed in Pennsylvania, was at that very moment zeroing in on Washington.

It was 12:05 p.m. when the director of Central Intelligence told Rumsfeld about the intercepted conversation.

Rumsfeld felt it was "vague," that it "might not mean something," and that there was "no good basis for hanging hat." In other words, the evidence was not clear-cut enough to justify military action against bin Laden.

But later that afternoon, the CIA reported the passenger manifests for the hijacked airliners showed three of the hijackers were suspected al Qaeda operatives.

"One guy is associate of Cole bomber," the notes say, a reference to the October 2000 suicide boat attack on the USS Cole in Yemen, which had also been the work of bin Laden.

With the intelligence all pointing toward bin Laden, Rumsfeld ordered the military to begin working on strike plans (Against Iraq). And at 2:40 p.m., the notes quote Rumsfeld as saying he wanted "best info fast.

Judge whether good enough hit S.H." - meaning Saddam Hussein - "at same time. Not only UBL" - the initials used to identify Osama bin Laden. -- MMII, CBS Worldwide Inc. All Rights Reserved.

The question is how much of the press can we actually believe? They tell us some things, neglect others, and completely blow things out of proportion.

Such is the case with the recent story of a woman in Georgia who allegedly overheard three Muslim men talking about a possible attack on September 13th, 2002.

The Fox Network blatantly stepped forward as judge and jury and cleverly marketed the story as "Terror or Error." They had only half of the title right and the entire story wrong.

However prejudiced eyes will argue that the woman was right no matter what even though the story itself was a fabrication.

Networks claimed that the woman, Eunice Stone reported that three Muslim students discussed going to Miami to blow something up. This did not happen.

The woman apparently thought the men were suspicious.

Reports claim that the men rolled through a Tollbooth. This didn't happen either. One car rolled through and the other car behind them paid for both cars.

The Ground Zero Forum and a few listeners to the show used this little tidbit of information as a foundation that the men were obviously dishonest. Once again the story is tainted and therefore means nothing. Yet it continues to be evolve and not surprisingly showing these Muslim men in a bad light.

It was also reported that there was possible explosive material in the car. There wasn't. It was reported that cops used explosives to detonate a suspicious knapsack found in one car. Once again another fabrication. Then, another report came in that explosive ''triggers'' were found in one of the cars. There were no explosive triggers or explosives.

This story was a NON STORY.

Yet it ate up some 7-8 hours of programming.

In similar whorish fashion the 9/11-television memorial ate up a full clock of programming.

The Fox News network also is adding insult to injury by milking the story for more ratings. In an effort to not look bad by blowing the story out of proportion they are now looking worse by stooping to ambush journalism. On camera, reporters challenged the three men to take lie detector tests.

Is this America?

Fox news is now becoming judge, jury and executioner.

Apparently Americans are feeding off of the frenzy and they want to believe that they are in danger. Ratings for these tools of the fascist empire seem to be climbing. Ambush reporters such as Bill O'Reilly are popular with viewers.

Those who speak in criticism lose favor of the American people. You see what happened to Bill Maher and Phil Donahue has remained in the ratings basement since he was brought back.

We read of the epidemic of West Nile virus when we should be hearing about the Denial Virus.

Because we are in Denial.

It seems that the American people want to be held in the trap of guilt, grief, and self-absorption. They want to point fingers at those who do not wish to play the dangerous game without even stopping to try and analyze what it is they are being fed. They are being held captive by a bunch of repeated lies. It is funny how certain stories are being repeated ad nauseum.

Ever get the feeling that stories that are repeated, played over and over again are the very stories that are the lies?

Think of it, a true liar keeps repeating the lie in his heart so it becomes indelibly marked on the soul.

George W. Bush made a speech at the end of 9/11 coverage that reinforced this argument:

"A long year has passed since enemies attacked our country. We have seen the images so many times they are seared on our souls, and remembering the horror, reliving the anguish, reimagining the terror, is hard - and painful." -George W. Bush

Yes Mr. President it was hard and painful and that is exactly what you wanted. Otherwise you wouldn't have had a prayer with your bullying stance against Iraq.

Can anyone see the wickedness that is being demonstrated here?

Mental torture, abuse and control placed strategically in the media to mold and shape the attitude of the people.

It is warped social engineering and when you tell a person that they have been had spiritually and mentally they take offense because no one wants to admit that they can lose their souls a little at a time.

But they are.

The country seems like they do not want to heal and this is why it is important to avoid getting caught up into the vicious circle of the consensus grief and anger over non-stories, half-truths, and outright lies.

All Americans were shaken by the events of 9/11. This is a certainty. However it seems that the damage has been done and now we expect the worst case scenario.

What we are seeing on television is the process of telling the herd to start chewing their emotional cud. We are being told that we need to be concerned about this, we need to mourn this, and we need to be vigilant about this.

We are still being begged to remember 9/11. The coverage has not stopped. Even after the media's manufactured Memorial Day exercise in futility.

Why?

Why must we have this tragedy forever played on television?

Can you forget the Challenger Disaster? How about the Columbine massacre? Has anyone stopped and pondered the Oklahoma City Bombing? Human life was lost at the Mount Carmel compound in Waco and in Guyana with Jim Jones and does anyone really burst a vein in trying to get emotional over such tragedies in human history?

These things are just after thoughts.

What has changed? Why do we care more now, than before?

The truth my dear friends is far from being told and as the clouds of the autumn gather outside my window the chilled air that smells of war continues to be picked up by those who have managed to magnify their sense of smell.

The dogs of war smell blood on their chins and it triggers a ravenous hunger that for some reason can not be filled to satisfaction. But we are easily led away from the real issues as the baseball strike had us on the edge of our seats, and the latest in child abductions seem to create that emotional fear that we as a troubled herd have learned to feed on like candy.

It is easy to determine that every news outlet is pandering for your consideration. The saturation of news has now lowered the journalists to doing outrageous stories just for the emotional appeal.

Americans who hope for that lucky appearance on television show up to these instant memorials and areas of sadness to drop off teddy bears and flowers. Some posture themselves in front of the camera and cross themselves so they can appear to be righteous.

After all, it is always nice to kid ourselves that God will always be on our side.

I am not here to diminish faith. I would hope that there could be a healthy amount of good faith instead of fraudulent overtures made so that people will pretend to know with a surety that the news reporter who cries on camera really gives a damn about you or the sick and the dying.

There is also that fraudulent amount of patriotism that is heard in country music songs and in "tributes" that play on the emotional basket case mentality we have allowed ourselves to fall into.

Is it so cynical to determine that the televised war is nothing more than a production with enough whistles and bells that it rivals a Las Vegas Casino?

Each piece of news has a great marketing catch phrase, a very heart rendering piece of music that is compelling and color graphics zooming in with explosive sound effects and a booming voice that you must look up and submit to.

News programs now have to compete with movies for your attention. They need the close ups, the blood, the fire, and the nourishing sound bite that you can quote if anyone questions your ability to be politically aware. You can always quote the brilliant sound bite and pretend to be clever.

I was taking calls on my show when after talking to myself for two hours about child abuse I somehow segued into the impending war with Iraq.

Immediately the phones lit up and to my surprise the conversation was transformed into a Jesus V.S. Mohammed bash. I had never heard in my life so much acerbic commentary about the philosophical differences between Christians, Jews, and Muslims. One man thought that he would call and leave a clever little quip:

"Islam is a religion in which God requires you to send your son to die for him. Christianity is a faith in which God sends his son to die for you."

What annoyed me was that out of all the things this guy could say was this quote and then to act as if he had made it up. He quoted it as if he had practiced it over and over again and then to say it with a straight face made my blood boil.

After he said it he expected a response and so he began to out yell me as if I was going to cut him off. I was yelling all right but not to chastise him for being a bigot. I was angry because out of all of the people to quote it had to be Attorney General John Ashcroft.

I remember when the comment was first made the Justice Department later issued a statement that Ashcroft had only meant to refer to those Muslims who are terrorists.

I am sometimes scolded on my own show by Christians who say that I am wrong when I say that some Christians are of the same absurd belief that war solves their problems.

They forget their own history.

All they have been taught is about their persecution. They refuse to even engage in conversation about the inhumanity that both religions have managed to produce.

We have arrived in a place in time where once again the hand of God is played in a risky card game where life and individual liberty is on the table.

"We are prepared for this journey. And our prayer tonight is that God will see us through, and keep us worthy. "-George W. Bush September 11th, 2002

The silly notions that God cares for one or another side is again routinely being used to justify the most horrific mockery of life and freedom for all inhabitants of the planet.

Can't we just admit that the wanton destruction of innocent people of all faiths is just plain wrong?

How can we have so much disrespect for human life? Who takes the higher ground? Is it so uncomfortable to realize that when you harm many, and oppress many, there are many that will rebel?

There are many that will attack and there are many that will fight back if they feel threatened.

The good news is that perhaps the opinions that I have been expressing are beginning break through. Not that I have delusions of grandeur thinking that what I have to say is influencing anyone in Washington but I am hoping that what I have to say has somehow given you the courage to speak up and begging to question the motives of some megalomaniacal leader.

I am seeing a lot of conservative politicians who are actually speaking out against the policies of war. I believe that they are using their wisdom and are seeing that this constant cycle of crisis is a detriment to the progress of a nation that was once known for it's ability to be beaten down and then rebuilt.

Healthy Americans know that risks exist. Healthy Americans don't have to be reminded to be vigilant. Healthy Americans use common sense.

Healthy Americans rebel.

Perhaps the rebellion has begun.

I am reading the fine print in the newspaper. If you actually explore your news you will probably notice that a CNN-Time magazine poll is beginning to show that there are people who are now speaking up and are saying that the cycle we are in is unhealthy. In fact it backs up my notion that the media is out of touch and those who continue to dwell on this are mentally ill.

The poll clearly shows that there is a progressive drop in support for the invasion of Iraq. I remember that there was 70 percent in favor at one time. Now we are seeing that only 51 percent support the decision. The percentage of people actually buying into this dog and pony show is dropping and I hope that the numbers continue to plummet.

There are also a lot of Americans who are challenging the President. They are insisting that the President gets congressional authorization before going after Saddam Hussein.

The more we push the more we will see Bush's true colors.

The more we say no to these unhealthy ventures that are anti American the more we will see that he is nothing more than a childish dictator and war criminal. It's time to fess up to it and it is time to be curt and frank about how it is unhealthy and unwise to continue this course.

However it must noted that even though Americans are beginning to speak up and the healthy Americans are having a little bit of the spotlight we should not take this for granted.

Always remember that the warmongers have think tanks and they have the media in their hands. That is why get rerun after rerun of 9/11 grief. This why we get eight hours devoted to an overheard conversation at a greasy spoon.

The warmongering puppet masters have money to pay for the constant streaming of propaganda and demagogy.

You need to make a conscious choice.

Either you will remain taking a constant diet of grief and hate, or you will wake up and notice that you are being manipulated by a group of people who are constantly feeding a monster of collective crisis in order to get your blind servitude.

It's a ploy to boost ad revenue. The Networks are in a never ending contest to out gross, out scare, and out do each other in every aspect of this well staged war on terror. In the process they have made us feel like we have been attacked every day.

We haven't. We know that the risk of another attack exists.

We all know that death is a fact of life.

This whole exercise is being used to glorify our sub-par leadership.

They failed us and this is their reaffirmation exercise. They want you to wave the flag as much as a fat wife wants you to tell her that she is still as beautiful as she was the day you met her. The funny thing is a story has been making the rounds that sounds like an urban legend but it is not surprising if it is true.

Sinecom, the Chinese State news agency, allegedly sent out a press release pointing out that 83 % of the American flags sold in the United States are made in China and that flag manufacturers saw an unexpectedly large amount of export revenues.

Sales of the Chinese made U.S. Flags in the United States in the wake of the new found patriotism after 9/11 generated enough revenues to provide the Chinese with the funds to build four additional thermonuclear tipped ICBM's that are aimed directly at American Cities.

When will we stop our consuming for the sake of consuming? When will the government stand accountable for their cycle of divide and conquer, consume and destroy?

Sometimes we just don't think about the consequences of our actions.

The tragic part to me is that it seems there is this trend towards destroying things and not rebuilding them.

History has shown that when America rebuilt areas they destroyed in war, they created strong friends out of mortal enemies.

I have not heard anywhere that we are in the process of rebuilding Afghanistan. We are not even thinking about rebuilding Yugoslavia. If you were wondering, people are still dying there. Many are dying of cancer. Animals are also dying mysteriously.

What have we done to Belgrade?

I can tell you that the evidence points to uranium tipped bombs. Low grade nuclear drops that continue to affect the people of Yugoslavia.

Anyone want to stop and ponder that mess that was left behind by the Clinton Administration?

You see, this is not an anti Bush rant by any means. It is a rant for accountability. It's a rant to urge people to see how we are in an unhealthy state of affairs.

Our leaders destroy life and property and then they don't help to rebuild. They destroy your spirit and tell you that they have a solution that includes sacrifices that affect your liberty.

They tell you to be vigilant as they hide in bunkers and set up weaponry in front of the Whitehouse.

Is this how a healthy and strong America acts?

John Ashcroft's quote that I cited earlier means absolutely nothing. Our leaders have destroyed people's lives and our lives have been trivialized in the process.

Healthy Americans used to care about how they were seen to the rest of the world. They used to care about liberty. The majority would protest poor treatment of the citizens of the world. Healthy Americans would demand that the President show evidence that we all need to be alarmed by further terrorist threats and that countries like Iraq have weapons of Mass destruction that are being targeted at our country.

The question needs to be repeated, If Iraq has weapons of mass destruction, if Muslim countries have advanced weapons for the destruction of the United States, then why did they use our own planes to destroy the Pentagon and the World Trade center? Why were they using box cutters? Why didn't they fire their alleged ICBMs at us?

You see they have used a crisis to cloud rational thinking.

They have also succeeded in mentally abusing the American people.

The Eli Lilly Drug Company has announced that their Prozac sales have hit an all time high in the United States. They have especially seen growth in their new time released Prozac. They attribute it to trauma induced by the 9/11 attacks.

Once the attacks happened I am sure people were grieved. However living in the shadow of death can make anyone want to take anti-depressants.

This explains why it seems that no one is speaking out. Maybe it's because they have been drugged into apathy.

Bush once again lies to us when he says America is strong. It is obvious that mentally we have sprung a gear or two.

It is a healthy American citizen's duty and obligation to speak out when our government is acting in a manner, which is inconsistent with the principles that were established by our founding fathers.

A healthy American becomes angry when he sees his leaders go against the principles that were laid down after World War II which calls for peaceful resolutions of problems between nations.

Healthy Americans would oppose the attempted power grab by George W. Bush with regard to Homeland security. They should prevent an overtly authoritarian president from sacrificing the Constitution for the purpose of providing a false sense of security.

Healthy Americans will understand that they will be asked to sacrifice, they will be asked to bleed and they will be asked to die for a government that has decided to look upon the constitution as a piece of parchment that belongs in a museum. They will understand that their leaders will not do the bleeding, the sacrificing, or the dying.

So it is a healthy American that has the courage to stand up and say no.

It has been a year since the attack that shocked America.

Looking back, can you honestly say that the year was good?

Was it healthy time for you spiritually and mentally? Now imagine this feeling lasting for many years.

Imagine these feelings of dread and paranoia spreading to everyone.

You may have heard these words spoken on my program in a montage but they fit more now than ever before:

"The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices - to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children...the children yet unborn."

Rod Serling utters the words. It is an epilogue to the wonderfully crafted and prophetic "The monsters are due on Maple Street." A Twilight Zone Episode and script that I was encouraged to read when I was a student in elementary school. The story demonstrates how a friendly neighborhood can degenerate into a dangerous mob when paranoia, sets in.

All it took was a few devastating seeds that plant the thoughts of mistrust into the minds of the neighborhood. After alien figures terrorize a neighborhood by manipulating their machines we watch the fearful herd begin to materialize.

It leads to the self-destruction of a group of people. What we are seeing is the perpetual manipulation that is turning a healthy America into a fearful herd in desperate need for guidance.

As the perpetrators say in the script:

" They pick the most dangerous enemy they can find, and it's themselves. All we need do is sit back and watch."

These words ring so true.

If you really want to see the enemy at this time you don't have to look any further than ourselves.

It's easy to get your fix of electronic masturbatory fear and grief.

All you need to do is sit back and watch. Just invest your time in worthless propaganda devised to spark mass Psychochondria. It's easy and before you know it you will have blood on your hands.

You may not do the killing yourself, but you will be the less than an innocent bystander.

The true terrorists and bogeymen are on television. They have a war to sell. The price is your soul, your money, blood and bones.

Above all they will take from you little by little the most important thing,

Your mind.
